Hi Everyone,

I have never posted before now but have lurked very, very often having been in a IVA since Nov 2005.The forum has helped my partner and I very much with information etc,its funny how many people have the same problems and questions too.

I feel that I have had to post something now as we have finally finished our IVA and would like the post to be a little bit of light at the end of a well trodden tunnel for others who are not quite there yet.

Its took a long time and so many thoughts of it will never end ( and many who are done and dusted know that only too well)but we got there in the end.
I would like to say that we made all of the payments required of us but we did`nt, we had to cut it a little short as we were worried that it would fail due to work still being thin on the ground due to the recession(partner is self employed) and do a full and final with help from our parents but at least we did the majority of it and only cut it short by seven months.
We are proud of ourselves after all the mess we were in before the IVA and it has been a Godsend.I will never have another credit card again,I dont even want to have to have finance for anything again,I have got to the point of hating owing for my house but that would prove a little too much to save up for to buy outright![:D]
I love just paying for things now out of my own money and know that it`s not costing any extra because of the interest. It has certainly taught us a lifelong lesson that I want to teach to my kids .....if you want it ...save for it!

I know my credit file is shot to pieces as is my partners ,but know in time it will repair, not that we will need it for anything but after struggling for so long it seems only right to make it look half decent again,so armed with my newly received certificate of completion I shall set about making it look a bit better.

One last thing I checked the IVA register on Sunday and both our names have finally gone!....The icing IS on the cake!

Good luck to all others trudging down the same path you will soon be there.

...And if any one from INVOCAS is reading ...thank you all...our bacon is saved!
x

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Well done on reaching the end and what an excellent post.

Gives hope to those of us still battling through and also to anyone looking in who is thinking of applying for one.

Good luck in your debt free future.

It is great to know that the forum has been your silent friend for so long, and may I send you my very best wishes for the future.

I am not sure how long the forum has been going for now, but it cannot be too far off it's fifth birthday. Admin - How about a celebration for those forum members who have posted right though their 5 year IVAs. We should give them their own special certificate of completion!!
Regards, Melanie Giles, Insolvency Practitioner

thank you for your message of hope. its lovely to read it. We are just starting our journey and hope to be able to teach our daughter the same lessons. I know my parents tried but things change over the years and credit was just there. Having said that, my very first store card was applied for because my mum took me into the store and say 'we're getting you some decent clothes' So I guess she learnt her lesson later on and sticks to the pay as you earn way now LOL
