Hi,

I've researched a lot of these (not got one yet as IVA still being proposed).

I would recommend the Cashplus Gold card. It's exactly like a Mastercard.

Bear in mind though you pay £4.95 per month for the card regardless whether you use it or not.

So up to you if you want to spend £60 a year for the privilage of having a card.

I stopped using all cards (including a debit card) mid January and really haven't had too many problems - I think it's a really good discipline to get into when and if my IVA gets approved.

If I need to get something on-line I get my partner to do it and pay them back.

I may get one later but my partner will share it and pay half the fee.

Hope this helps.

I am just about to cancel my splash 360 card as my new account gives me a debit card which is accepted abroad. Prior to changing banks I put 50 quid a month into the card (no fee) and then used the card for drawing cash abroad or xmas purchases as long as I got an on line discount greater than the fee charged. The latter did not happen often as I tend to approach my ex husband, pay him the cash and get him to order on line for me

Hi,
I looked into one through Quidity. They charge £7.95 to start and you can pay for this by going onto the website and printing off a coupon which you take to the Post Office, so you don't have to use a debit or credit card. Once you've done this you'll receive a receipt with an 8 digit number which you go onto the website and enter, this will allow you to get a card. It's free to top up at the post office and I think 1.95% on line. No monthly fee although you pay a percentage of what you purchase but that's got to be better than credit card interest!!
Good Luck!

I got my Unique one this morning. As soon as I get my PIN I am going to load some money onto it - I am going to use it for petrol and car and medical allowances.

Onwards and upwards!!!

Hi

I have a myvesta prepay mastercard which cost 4.95 per month and is free to load, you only need a driving licence or passport to get one on line, but it costs around 16 pounds to start with.(they send you a bar code letter which you take to the post office) It takes two working days for loads to go on to the card. Its possible to have wages, benefits etc paid directly onto it.

I also have a pre pay maesto rcard cost 9 pounds and its 70p per top up. The top ups go on the next working day.

With both cards you are only allowed to have 3500 total on the card, (as if?)they are accepted everywhere. I have had one problem with a refund on the maestro.

There is a further charge for drawing cash.

I wouldnt be without them. My problem is being able to withdraw the cash from LLoyds cashcard account to top them up.

It would a fantastic idea if you could 'internet' some money from your cash account onto them.

When ever you use the card your balance changes immediatley (on line) so you can keep a really accurate record of what is left. I used to carry a little white book everywhere in case I forgot but there is no need.
