Hi,

I have received a letter today from the IVA council asking me to ring them about being mis-sold an IVA, has anybody else recieved such a letter and should I reply? I know this may sound a bit stupid but in the last year (my first in my IVA) I have had a number of letters from companies claiming to help me in my IVA which I have ignored after contacting my IVA company.
Thism letter states that ' IVAC has noted a pattern of inconsistencies that may indicate that you may have been mis-sold your IVA' the letter then goes on to state other factors. The y have my practitioners name, date and court it was held in.

Thanks for any help you maybe able to give. This sometimes gets very complicated and stressful!

Yes, it could be a scam. They've got your name and address from the DTI Personal Insolvency Register. They know some basic information about you (name/address/date of birth/date arrangement approved/Name of the Supervisor) but cannot possibly have a clue about whether you have been missold an IVA. They seem to be trying to flog you some form of "assisted bankruptcy" for which they charge you.

Last year there were allegations these people made their web-site so closely resemble the DTI one that it caused the DTI to post this statement.

My message to you is that if your IVA is on track don't worry about it. Treat it as junk mail and shred it.

Thanks very much Ian I thought it was a bit strange, these people seem to thrive on people in a vulnerable state.
Thanks again.

This company appear to be targeting certain IVA firms that they claim operate as "factories", but they have really been unable to qualify what they actually mean by that term. I suspect that the firm you are using (from looking at the Insolvency Register) may fall under their definition of a "factory", which is probably why you have been targeted.

If you are happy with the advice which has been provided by your IP, and feel that the IVA was the right thing for you to do, then Ian has probably given you the best solution!

Hi there they just got the info as said off the insolvency register, as to they have noted inconsistencies, how could they they dont have any access to your file. If you are happy in your iva why change anything.
All the best
