Advice before I have a heart attack!

Just wanted to let out today's panic!

I feel massively guilty at the extra strain this is having on my parents although I couldn't do this without their support. Every day since I realised what huge debts I have and couldn't pay back in a lifetime, I continuously can't believe I let it get so bad. I'd never even heard of IVAs or that there was a way to manage debt. When I went to the bank all they wanted to do was give me a loan - which was the last straw financially really.

I have to stay out here in Saudi now until November and even though I hate it and miss home so much, I know that I must do it. Never again will I let myself get into such a mess.

If you are so unhappy abroad, what would the downside for you if you came back to the UK earlier. I know that you have a termination bonus you are working towards, but is it really worth so much unhappiness? What would be the difference to your Saudi take-home salary compared to what you could earn in the UK - and is the difference merely servicing your debts?

If I came back now I wouldn't have the money to keep up with all my commitments including paying my brother back, so I have to stay here until I have paid him which will be Oct/Nov and end of contract as well. Here I am taking home 2,220 a month which is, as you say, just servicing my debts but at least everyone is getting paid still. I also want to show willing whether for IVA or bankruptcy that I have done everything I could to keep it all going as long as possible, including coming out here.

It's my own doing but pretty miserable but I will get through it - people have worse I know. I think it's just being so far away and not in your home environment that adds to the pot.

I have very much appreciated everyone's comments and I will be back in April to look at what can be done to sort my situation when back for good in November. I will definitely be calling on your services!
