Hi Mr T

I believe BT offer a service to deaf people. I have a client who contacts me by telephone via a third party. He types into his computer, they read the words to me. I will write to him to find out how you can access this service. If he sends me the information, I will post it on here.

In these circumstances, if I were to receive a TypeTalk call through the operator then I would be happy to speak to a wife or partner/spouse as long as it had been confirmed via the operator that this was acceptable to the applicant.

Thanks.

I apologise to all the people who have tried to help me , but I honestly did not know that there are different laws for debt in the uk .And to be honest I did not see any reference to it on anyones web site , do any of the companies that have contacted me , have offices in Scotland or can point me in the direction of one.
Oh well back to square 1 again , and I cant get an appointment with the CAB until next week . and by that time for the first time in 32 years I will be unable to pay a bill.

I am not sure. I do know the trust deed only usually runs for three years not five and that it is similar in a lot of ways to an iva. I would google it and get as much info as possible. Wait for other answers there have been posters with trustdeeds and I am sure Melanie and the other Ip's can give advice.

This just a thought Mr T, but I think Jo Rolland who posts on this forum is based in Scotland. I don't know if she might be able to help.

Hello Mr T,

If you are looking for a practitioner in Scotland you may find our site www.IVA.com useful. We maintain a list of UK IPs and the firms that they work for. I'm sure that we will have a firm local to you listed.

Good luck with your search and please let us know if we can assist further.

Kind regards,
Terry Balfour

There ARE a lot of similarities between IVA's and PTD's (Protected Trust Deeds) but substantial differences as well.
This is a rule of thumb so please don't take as gospel, but the process of both is remarkably similar. The main differences are that a Trust Deed generally runs for 3 years and an IVA for 5, Trust Deeds require a minimum dividend of 10p and IVA's 25p but as each case MUST be based on it's own merits and any Disposable Income/Equity etc then you should take professional advice on your own situation.

A lot of us also practice in Scotland, but as other posters have stated the laws are different. Trust deeds are more akin to bankruptcy proceedings, in that any assets you have also need to be included, but as previous posters have said they can be more flexible and have lower hurdle rates.
