I have just opened a new bank account at the TSB as my first step to sorting things out. Chose TSB coz no connection with my credit cards etc. Just a bit confused as all the previous blogs on bank accounts talk about various providers and the pros and cons of them including them only offering maestro or solo card. The account I have just opened is a "normal" account with cheque book and cash card - just checking this is ok? Also - now I have opened this account if I go the IVA route will the TSB be informed. Was just feeling quite positive as I have actually done something and now feeling I may have done the wrong thing.

I had my bank account with Lloyds TSB and they were fine. I had a normal account with a debit card and a chequebook and there was no problem with me keeping it in my IVA. As far as I know they never knew about my IVA, and as they aren't a creditor there is no need for them to be informed.

Thanks for that - reassuring. I feeling a bit more positive today - light at the end of the tunnel. Still a long way to go but made the first move to getting sorted.

Hi Elizabeth, I have a regular maestro card and cheque book. Haven't had any probs and am in my second year now.

Take care.
