I've done it!

I've told the first person other than my forum friends about my IVA, up until today it's only my forum buddies and my husband that knows about my IVA.

I used to teach a retired GP in college, well in a month of Sunday's she was never going to be the next Bill Gates bless her but she is a lovely lady, a Samaritan, a Magistrate, a Prison Volunteer along with a whole host of other posts she holds.

Today she rings, as she needed some IT assistance, so as per usual I go along, she normally rewards me with cakes or similar (5 today)! How am I supposed to diet? Today we talked about her work in the CAB as that is what she was working on, she advises about debt and it all just came out, how I'm on here and I then asked her if she would promote the forum with the CAB and she is prepared to do this....I can't believe I did it...it was so easy, I said I'm sorry if I've disappointed you but she said she admired my honesty and thinks I could possibly help her in her volunteer role as an advisor within the CAB. She only wishes I'd have told her sooner.

You should be able to give her some brilliant advise about IVA's and hopefully help people who turn to the local CAB for help.

It feels good and I know I can trust her fully as she does with me as some of her documents I'm certain I shouldn't see but I'm very loyal to her.

You will be fantastic- you know I'm in your fan club! You would be a great asset to the CAB.

And well done for telling someone, it's not an easy thing to do but I think only good things will happen from this and I'm sure that you will make a huge difference to even more people.

Great news Lesley. I have told my 2 closest friends to date. My sister's ex-husband went BR years ago when he was still married to my sister. They owed me £2k at the time (when I was flush) and they paid back every single penny....not sure if I could tell my family, even my sister about my situation though.

She owes us £1800 and we have not seen a penny of it, nor do I expect to.

She'll never have any more though, no matter how desperate she is!

I've never borrowed any money from family or friends, I know for a fact that my mum would expect to see an I&E form if I wanted to borrow from her!

Who knows what the future holds as my children are young and more concerned about £2 pocket money.......hopefully our situation is helping to instill the value of money, not credit into them.

I owe Dave and my mum money, but they know they'll get every penny back, albeit it slowly!

My step son borrowed £300 off us, and has paid back £120 of that, but seems to have conveniently forgotten about the rest, despite large hints being dropped!

They have shot themselves in the foot though, because any mention of them being hard up will fall on deaf ears!

That's why I'd never not pay them back - I can't ask them for help if I need it in the future if I don't.

Dave's sons have borrowed money and never paid it back, so they won't get any more.

I totally agree Jan, mind I never lend mine money as I don't have any but their Dad does (first hubby). He's the bank and I'm the babysitter, but the amount of problems that is causing because of sibling rivalry is making me want to say 'enough'!

Hubbys ex is quite brow beaten by both of the kids, especially the stepdaughter. She is quite good at acting the victim, and when that doesn't work, the bully.

She doesn't try it with us though - she knows it would get her nowhere.
