HI

I am searching for advice.

I am looking for legal insurance cover in the case of any family matter. I think I know the answer but i thought I would try here.

i am looking for a friend who has just completed a two year court battle about a family matter and won but that was under legal aid, now she is working she will not be able to get legal aid and just for comfort in case the ex who can afford private legal representation again to take her to court she could try and get a cover for this,.

Does anyone know of such a cover and where we could look?

thanks

There is something called after the event insurance but this may not apply. You could see if a solicitor will act under a CFA which meand they don't get paid if you lose but get an uplift in the damages you pay to them if you win. I would seek legal advice.

Hi Ash

You can get add ons to the usual house insurance for an additional premium or you could search for DAS legal expenses insurance.

I think it all depends what the family matter was all about... If it was about property, then you do may be able to get an addition to your home insurance that covers legal expenses. Legal expense cover is also available if you manage a business.
