I remember when my daughter was small, we used to leave a glass of whisky and a mince pie out for Santa. Hubby would drink the whisky, I would eat the mince pie and leave a few crumbs on the plate. She went mad the first time she saw it and wanted to know why Santa hadn't tidied the plate away!!!!!!!! And this from the child whose bedroom now looks like World War 3 has occurred!
