i think a lot of people on modest incomes run into problems because pay day is per calender month which sometimes in 4.5 weeks .up until the age of forty i was paid weekly in cash if you were skint by wednesday at least you only had two days to to go till you got your packet, with monthly pay if folks run out they try to make ends meet by going for payday loans into overdrafts etc ,i have always been what you may call a low paid worker but up until the age of 27 i didn't have a bank account i was 46 before i had a c/card, and i seemed to get by relatively debt free i know there's no excuse and we have a duty to try to live with in our means but you cant beat cash in your hand.
my other piece of advice copperfield is mr micawcer said, annual income £20 annual expenditure £19/19s/6d result happiness, annual income £20 annual expenditure £20/6d result misery.

I've always been paid monthly. Initially it was four weekly and then changed to calendar monthly many years ago so I know when everything is going out and work round that.

I've done going overdrawn on the overdraft but have never, and would never, touch payday loans.

I've had a bank account since I was 17 and a credit card (or two) when I was in my mid twenties.

Always wanted more though.

I get paid 4 weekly so most months its the same, one bonus for me is twice a year my pay goes past my bigger out goings so, my rent and my iva, giving me a free month which is a great bonus!

It was tough originally as i was weekly and they just changed it, gave us a months notice and some had a bridging loan to cover the gap, but i didn't. My brother struggles some months as he is monthly paid, but then other months he seems to have loads of money, so im guessing its all about your budget

I'm paid monthly (today in fact) and I'm happy with that as all my DDs are set up to go out a few days later and I know exactly where I am.

I used to love the free month as well, but do prefer knowing exactly where I am now and knowing exactly when my DD's go out.

My account always looks healthy on payday, and then most of it goes out a few days later!

As long as there's some in at the end of the month and all the bills are paid, that's the main thing!
