Fixed prices with British Gas

I apologise now if this topic has been discussed already, I have tried a search but I keep getting timed out.

What are peoples opinions on the current offer by British Gas to fix prices for 3 years. I appreciate it is a bit of a gamble, but would be grateful for any advice on this subject before I make any decisions,thanks.

In my humble opinion I think it's worth it. I really can't see gas or electricity prices coming down. We would change to a fixed tariff, but Southern Electric don't do one, and as we've only just changed to them I don't know if we could change again.

If you are with british gas it may be worth looking at the click energy 5 tariff too. I am on it and during the last lot of price hikes I got an e mail saying mine was staying at the current rate. Worth checking out.

Thanks all, just don't want to commit for 3 years unless it's worth doing. Would be interesting to get an IP's opinion, especially as these two bills have been our biggest increases since starting our IVA.

As Skippy says,its almost impossible to see how they can come down in price so fixing for 3 years does sound like a good plan.

I am with eon and was in a quandry about whether to fix mine but did a couple of weeks ago, it was a rise of a small percentage but it saved me a lot as only last week they put a 26% rise on.

I am with EDF energy - has anyone out there fixed with them?

They have offerred me a fix until Oct 09 but for about an extra £1.50 per week which I am not sure if that sounds fair or not?

Skippy, I think you can change whenever you like.

We're with Atlantic for both of ours and they have always been the last to raise their prices. We also get a 'loyalty' bonus every year when they refund a months payments.

I'm with EDF, have been since April until Oct '09. My payments haven't changed, they are still £50 each per month.
