Hi All,Just Wondering if someone can help on this one,I have a creditors meeting due next week and I just had a letter through about an old tax credit saying I owe HMRC £1700.00 for an over payment? but was not aware of this when I did my I&E or the proposal(but I did show a VAT debt that I shown on my creditors list). My wife said she will pay this off herself(By borrowing money off her family, she is not part of my Iva apart from the I&E)what should I do?just leave it and let the creditors mtg take place or inform my IP?
I worried as I really want/need the IVA to be approved.

Thnx Wilbur10

I wouldn't pay it off as it could be seen as preferencial treatment. I would ring your IP on monday and get it included in the proposal.

Thanks Kazzafunk for your advice, but my wife is not part of my Iva so would they not chase her direct for the full payment even if I put it on the Iva proposal?? I'm just really concerned that after all the hard work in pulling together to get to a stage of an Iva crediors meeting and getting back into employment this has come out of the blue at this bloomin stage(talk about when your lucks out!!)
Thanx Wilbur10

If the overpayment is yours then I don't see how HMRC can chase your wife for payment.

I agree with Kazza, you need to speak to your IP tomorrow before you do anything.

Good luck and let us know how you get on x

Hi Skippy, the child tax credit was in both names whilst I was unemployed and based on both incomes so that's why I wondering if they will seek the full amount from my wife as they would do on a joint account debt(My wife is not part of my Iva and she does not want any part of having debt around her neck,at present my wife does'nt have any loans or CC's etc)thats why she wants to get it paid off so her name is not associated with it or the Iva.
Thnx Wilbur10
