My chocolate lab is going to have a fat lump (Lipoma) removed on the 10th June. We had the fine needle aspiration in January and decided to leave it but it's grown so quick that the vet now recommends removal. I'm off work that week.

PD is Taz ok after her op?

I hope he's ok Lesley. My Mum's dog has got a huge lump on her leg but she's been advised by the vet that due to her age (the dog not Mum!) and the location of the lump it's better to leave it. Luckily it doesn't seem to cause her any problems.

I'm sure he will be Skippy. Basically they said they could leave this but as he's only 8 and it will get bigger, it needs removing now had he been 12 they'd have said leave it.

He's not done bad in his 8 years not had a lot wrong with him. The episode he had New Years Day not sure what that was about still identified the lump but it's just grown so big since then and looks so unsightly.

Oh bless him, I'm sure he'll be fine - they bounce back so muck quicker than us!

We're not sure how old Mum's dog is but we think about 12 or 13 so it wouldn't be fair to put her through it - apparently she'd need a skin graft as well. If she was younger we wouldn't hesitate though.

Taz is fine after his. It was fairly large and deep set under front right leg shoulder muscle but other than a bald patch you wouldnt noticed. The little one on his belly was just done since he was knocked out. We could have left both but shoulder one would start affecting his movement before long. He had painkillers for about 5 days and only short walks for 3 weeks but recovered well. Vet nurses saw him every few days for 2 weeks to check wounds but most of the stitched were inside. He didnt even lick either wound which saved on the silly lampshade collar things which just seem to depress dogs!!

Paul
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

Sounds very similar to that of my dog Paul. Hope we escape the lampshade but time will tell on that. x

He's had a bit of a set back but he's fine in himself. He had one lump that was massive, (probably saw pic on FB some of you). Well when they took that out they did say, it may fill itself with fluid as the body isn't used a void being there. Friday he went for a check up and it had indeed filled up. They drained it and he's going again this afternoon to have it drained again. She did say eventually it will stop but may take a little while. He's got stitches to be taken out this Friday. He's not bothered with them at all and hasn't had to wear the lampshade. He's on regular walks and would run if you let him!

He had it drained again and now not back until Friday when he gets his stitches out and sees if it needs draining again.
