Thanks again,

Does anyone have any idea exactly what it says in the local paper? Do they just give your name, or is it your address or date of birth too??

Gosh this is all very scary!

I think it is you name and address but not sure. Just shows I have never read them.
I think the same as Philip I would have thought it is only criminal offences, unless it includes a credit check as well.

Thanks again,

In the meantime, what should I be doing about the creditors who are phoning now asking for money? Do I prioritise who I pay and who I don't, or do I pay each one just a small amount and explain I'm looking into my options?

Your name, address and occupation will be listed. If you are suffering undue pressure from your creditors, it would be wise to consult an insolvency practitioner as soon as possible just for peace of mind and to share the problem.

hi ians you asked about paying creditors i would wait and pay none till after you have spoken to melanies team to see if the iva route is viable because if it is you will be told to stop paying them anyway

Good luck Ians - you've taken that first step.

Thank you so much for all your support so far, folks-it really is great to know you are all there to help and guide us in this yucky journey!

I didn't really sleep at all last night because of all the info and worry buzzing around in my head. So far we feel bankruptcy would be the best solution for us, BUT my wife is so worried about her school children and their parents reading the announcement in the paper and it causing her alot of problems in her work (that really WOULD send us over the edge if she could no longer work!) Do people actually read those things anyway? I've never even seen one! Does anyone have any experience of people finding out from the newspaper and this causing problems?

Gosh, there are so many things to think about! Hopefully we'll feel better after our chat with Tina this morning.

Wish us luck!

Only my opinion Ians but have to say I have never read them but dont buy newspapers anyway.
I was worried about the newspaper , but now feel that if things go wrong with our iva then I would definately go bankrupt. I think its the same with a lot of things if i saw someone I knew in the newspaper I certainly wouldnt say anything to the person, and like with a lot of things people may natter amongst themselves for a day or two and then its old news and forgotten. I cannot recall in the two years I have been posting anyone having had a problem due to the advert in the newspaper.
I hope all goes well for you, try not tolet it all get on top of you, though it is difficult not to, but you will be ok and the worry will go. Melanie and her team get such good revieews you will get great advice on solutions and will be fine.

Hi again everyone,

We are just waiting now for our call from Tina (in Melanie's team). It was supposed to be this morning but we had to postpone it till tonight as we had commitments with our little boy.

I was asking before about the newspaper announcement for bankruptcy cos my wife is fixated on this and worried sick who will find out. Our local free paper has just dropped through our door and there is a section there called 'Public and legal notices', which contains announcements about insolvency and companies, but doesn't mention bankruptcy itself. Does anyone know if this is where the announcement about us would appear? If so, it's in the middle of the jobs section and is so tiny i can't imagine many people taking the time to read it. Also, does anyone know if it would include the name of my the school where my wife teaches?

Hmmm...my wife and I are going through strange emotions at the moment-swinging between feeling sick with panic and worry, and feeling quite 'up' in a strange way, that we're doing something about our problem.

Will post again after the phone call and let you know what happened.

Thanks again,

I
