Hi me and my husband were approached by a company called HAMPTON TRUST,they are based in GLASGOW.is the name written on our letter, he explained he had,had our name off the insolvency register. He made all sorts of promises ranging from, our creditors would SEE we could not afford to pay them back, and bankruptcy would cosy ous CREDITORS alot of money, we were fooled into giving this reptile 450.00, he also knew we have a disabled child, we have not heard from him, or any of his staff since. We are now going bankrupt with a desirable company, and feel very wronged by HAMPTON TRUST, but!!this posting will save someone else 450.00 we hope.[}:)][}:)]

Do you really need to use any desirable company to help you fill out a few simple forms? And can I ask you how much you are paying for your bankrutpcy assistance?

Looks like the same aka 'Independent Insolvency Intermediary" based at 151 West George Street, Glasgow, who's letter I received last November, telling me I was - to paraphrase; " being conned by my IP"
Sent this to my (well respected and trusted) IP and additionally reported the bloke to trading standards.

Instances like this make me really suspicious of people in general - wrong I know but I can't help it. It takes me a lot to put my trust in people which is why it took us a ong time to 'go for it'. We first checked out IVA's i November 07 and are only just doing anything about our situation. Why are people dishonest?! aaaargh!

Well said Lily x

If enough people report these chancers, maybe we can put them out of business? It's what they deserve

pippin are you being charged a fee by your "reputable company" charging you a fee for declaring bankruptcy?

My view is that there are times in your life when you need a professional to support you ... not least in times of financial difficulty. There is nothing wrong with paying a professional a fee to help you through the difficult minefield of BR ... if you feel that the fees are acceptable then these kind of people can be worth their weight in gold. If you are happy enough with their support and fees then thats fine.
Most people chose to do it for themself and save their money.
There are people on the forun who have.
Can i recomend you read skippy and scaredkez' blogs they are very informative on the whole bankruptcy process.

hi pippin - welcome!

just want to say that i am disgusted in this company that you put your trust in and paid good money too - just how can these people live with themselves and sleep at night - they just pray on vulnerable people like ourselves when we are at our lowest!

i sincerely wish you the very best and hope you get things sorted soon so that you can get on with the rest of your life!

love barb x

Good luck Pippin ... and do let us know how you get on.

It is always great to have a professional 'friend' when you are going through this journey ... and they are entitled to charge a fee for their professional help. You also know that things are being done properly then and it takes all the angst out of having to do it all yourself.
