Hi,

I haven't posted in a while, I'm now in a DMP. Thought I'd post some information in the hope it might be useful to others:

1. I'm in a DMP with CCCS. So far I have found them to be totally professional and supportive - I've got only good things to say about them.

2. I was making token £1 per month payments for 6 months whilst I got myself sorted out. Many of the banks (egg, mbna, citi, goldfish) have now assigned the debt to a 3rd party. 6 months seems to be their cut off

3. My experience with DCAs varies massively. Best is Cabot Financial - friendly, helpful, and want to help you pay off the debt. They told me straight up that they are happy to deal with CCCS, and they will also happily do a settlement and mark my account fully settled if I ever want to offer them a lump sum.

Worst is 1st credit, who demanded a lot of irrelevant info (marital status? none of your business, mate), then told me they "aren't interested in DMP", and if i don't pay the whole amount within 7 days they will take me to court and follow with a stat demand / bankruptcy. Seeing as I have no assets to speak of, good luck to them.

Highlight so far is having 12K of debt from my old company written off by HSBC because of a screwup on their part :)

How much are you paying each month, and how much do you owe to ceditors in total? Glad to hear that you have found a solution which you are comfortable with.

I also have first credit hounding me for a debt of £1250, cant wait until they ring again as since my OH change in job and reduction in income we are unable to service his IVA and my DMP resulting in having to go BR. If they want to do it for me it will save the fees!!
