I finally managed to get a CD I'd been looking for for ages on Ebay - Centerfield by John Fogerty. It's a brilliant album but I couldn't find it anywhere - I paid just over £6 including P & P. I've also bought a couple of Jasper Carrot DVDs recently as well and a Bruce Springsteen album for a fiver! I'm also looking for some new work clothes but I really want to wait until I've lost some weight - could be a while!

Well done skippy13

Hope you didnt pay much over £6 as amazon are good for cheap stuff, I always compare ebay, amazon and play.com before buying and there was a cd centrefield, for 5.21 + £1.24 postage on amazon. Glad you got waht you wanted tho, I love collecting 80`s 7" and 12" and ebay helps, sell lots to at a profit ( sometimes )

Today we bought a really old battered range rover off ebay for mr skint to thrash and bash around a field. Its a bit of an eyesore but it will serve its purpose.

I paid £6.04 to be precise! I couldn't get it on Play.com (my usual site for CDs!) and I didn't think of Amazon! Dave keeps telling me I don't need any more CDs (I've got 300-400, I've not counted for a while!) but I love music and as I can't justify buying them full price I love Ebay!

I've sold CDs on Ebay before - I sold one at a profit and when I was packing it I realised that the CD wasn't in the case. I eventually found that Dave had been using it as a coffee mug and it was scratched to pieces! I'm proud of my 100% feedback so I ended up buying the CD again so I could post it - bang went my profit!

I am starting to regret - or enjoy - not sure which!!! looking at E-Bay as I have found so many other CDs from way back (1999 - 2001 or so) with good memories that I would like!!!! The stupid thing is that I used to have most of them but ended up giving them away or losing them or whatever!!! Now several years on I miss them and want them again!!! Sad or what!!!

I do wonder why the auctions go on for days as all the action seems to take place in the last couple of minutes!!!!

And some of the blunt speakers on E-Bay giving "negative" feedback about sellers have given me a smile!! My seller had 98% positive so I hope he / she does not let me down!!!

I've just won a pair of Next work trousers - 99p plus £2.50 P & P! Hopefully they'll fit, but I'm not that worried if they don't at that price!

Skippy -

I get the impression that you are a regular E-Bay user!!!
Have you ever had an item that you have purchased not arrive at your home? I am hoping to receive my first CD purchase this week but was just wondering if things dont arrive - is it easy to sort out??

with regards to items not being delivered it all depends how you paid if you used paypal then you just open a dispute with paypal and they sort it out .
if however you paid by postal order it all depends on the sellers integrity however most sellers on ebay dont want negative feed back so will 9 times out of 10 reinburse you as they mostly have postal insurance my only advice would be cautious about buyers who have less than 10 selling feedback.this sounds harsh as people all have to start somewere but not at the possible cost of peoiple in our position!!
saying that i ahve not had a problem buying of ebay at all
(fingers crossed)

As a buyer you're always safe and better off using Paypal. All your transactions are covered. It's only sellers that have to beware! I would always say it's best to communicate with the seller before raising a dispute or leaving negative feedback though.
Out of thousands of transactions I can still count on one hand how many went missing in the post. Although there were many 'slow post days' were everything posted that day took 3 weeks to deliver 1st class!

If you dont mind me asking - what happens if you are a seller and the buyer denies receiving an item that they have purchased from you? Is it essential to send items by recorded / special delivery so that you can then take it up with Royal Mail?

You can put a claim in for anything posted by RM. You can only claim up to the value of £30 though. They have a waiting time of 15 working days before you can claim. It's not neccessary to post by Recorded or Special but higher value items it's recommended.
Paypal will refund the buyer if the seller does not use a trackable method of delivery or if sent to a different address.

I have used ebay for around 4 years with only 2 items going missing. Paypal will refund if used and the seller can claim from RM. One piece of advice is to check the sellers feedback, if you're not sure, don't buy from them. It is a bit of a trust game but you do have a safety net if it goes wrong providing you have followed ebay guidelines. Great Community pages too, for any questions you might have.
It's nice to be back......

I have also been using Ebay buying and selling for some 5 years now with no problems, I think I have only ever had I parcel go missing. I have also sold lots of things to make the extra cash, and again I have never had someone who has never paid. Maybe I am lucky but I do have a 100% positive feedback.
I am currently selling stuff and unwanted gifts to raise money for my daugthers prom !!
