Thank you for that, I was feeling very guilty about causing people so much worry.
I have been thinking about it though and the lady at the IVA company told me she had the name of the man she sends it to, so I thought I would ring her back and ask her for it then look for his telephonenumber on the internal list. I will ring him, anonymously obviously!!,and ask exactly what the crack is. Ill post the answer on Monday night.

I did - and the answer was yes they do like to be made aware of the fact that their employees are entering into voluntary arrangements, but there is nothing which stipulates that they must be, and they have assured me that everything would be kept confidential and would not result in jobs being affected.

Personally, I believe that to notify and employer of a pending IVA is in contravention of Data Protection provisions and an invasion of human rights. So unless legislation is introduced to make me do this (which is very unlikely), I will not be notifiying HMRC or any other employer of my client's intentions to deal with their financial difficulties.

I gather that under your terms and conditions, there is a requirement to advise your line manager if you are entering into an IVA or declaring yourself bankrupt - but I certainly do not believe that this should come behind the doors from the IP.
