hi new to this forum.
could really do with some help.
i have debts totaling approx 55k and could probably afford to pay approx £400 a month would this be feasible as reguards to an iva.
i am self employed having spent 11mths on the sick due to illness in the last 2 years its only now that iam starting to get back on my feet again, and start earning.
there is some equity on our home but this is almost impossible to utilise due to loan defaults and incoming ccjs

Hi Airguns41 and welcome to the forum, just because you have defaults and maybe get some ccjs in the near future does not mean you can not remortgage and release equity.

If you post some more details regarding who your debts are with and the amounts that are owed, IVA experts and other forum members will be able to offer more help and advice.

It would also be useful to know how much equity you actually have in your property

Hi airguns
As Mike says if you dont mind posting a little more info better advice can be given. How much equity in your home, who your creditors are and rough amounts owed. Include all unsecured debt including overdrafts.

Hi airguns

You definately have the makings of an IVA there if that is your chosen option, but do find an insolvency practitioner with experience of working with self-employed clients.

And as you are self-employed you will need to meet with your IP on a face to face basis, or a senior member of his/her staff. This is actually very beneficial, as you are able to discuss all options and ask as many questions as you need to.

Hi airguns,

I agree that, from the information that you have posted, an IVA may well be an option for you.

If you are looking for an IVA firm to represent you, you may find our web site useful. We publish a list of IVA firms and their IPs together with client feedback of their services.

Good luck with your search and please let us know how you get on.

Kind regards,
Terry Balfour
