Dear Briggy,

I am so sorry to hear your story and my heart goes out to you. Honesty is the best policy with all parties concerned. Otherwise you will have sleepless nights and may become ill over all of this. Please be brave and face your fears, it will be the best thing all round. I know it scary but you need to speak to everyone and "get it off your chest". Then face whatever comes, deal with it and when its over, build up your life again - don't make this a long-term agony, make it a short-term one. God Bless you Briggy.

J.K x

Hi Briggy, I work in mental health and wonder if you have a CPN (Community Psychiatric Nurse) or whether you are seeing a Consultant Psychiatrist for your clinical depression. If so, I am sure they would be able to offer you good support and advice on this matter.
If not, go to see your GP and ask for a referral to your local Community Mental Health Team. Depression, as I am sure you know, is a serious matter - don't just leave it and hope things get better. Remember a problem shared etc. Keep us posted x

Before i start i should state i am not a solicitor and before you do anything you should seek legal advice, but after working within the criminal justice system for 15 years i would state if you have never been in trouble before and the fact that you was suffering from mental illness at the time you are very very unlikely to go to prison. At the end of the day no one person has lost out. It's a bank that make millions of pounds profit every day. If you owne up now, your dad firstly will not have the shock of the credit letter landing on his door step. Secondly the bank may even make a payment arrangement because they know if they involve the police at it goes to court they are NOT going to get awarded anything like £50000 compensation it would if any be in the hundreds. Thats if you was found Guilty. To get it as far as court the Crown prosecution has to decide firstly is it in the "Public Interest" and also can they prove it beyond all reasnable doubt. If your Dr can state at the time you did this you was clinically depressed and not really knowing what you was doing then you have a big question mark over both.
As i say seek "PROFFESIONAL LEGAL ADVICE" before you do anything, but doing asomething now before you make yourself ill or the letter arrives at your Dads.
I truely hope it works out.
