Congratulations, I don't know how you managed to keep going from November to July, and I thought my 21 weeks was long enough.

Thanks to everybody for your kind words.

I will continue to post. I would miss you guys if I left now. Lol.

I hope my experience will help others. For example I often see people posting here that they are worried as they have missed 2 payments. Well I haven't paid any of my creditors since last October and yes, I've had the phone calls, letters, default notices etc but on each occasion when I spoke to the companies I explained that I couldn't favour them over my other creditors. Sometimes they would threaten further action such as a home visit from a debt collector but it never happened.

I'm not saying it will always be this way and I'm not proud that it went so long but I hope it will put people's minds at ease about missed payments.

Regards

Dave

Thanks Kerri

I didn't say when my creditors meeting was because of some comments from other members about the site being monitored. Don't get me wrong as I firmly believe in free speech but when we list who our creditors are and how much we owe them to then say my meeting is on *** at ** o clock might mean we identify ourselves.

To anybody that has submitted that information please don't worry about it. It's just that having been posting on here for 8 months its possible that I might have said something non too favourable about some of my creditors and didn't want to alert them any further to when my creditors meeting was.

I wanted to tell people because the messages of support you get from other members keeps you going. But I'm so pleased at the number of people that have taken the time to send me a "well done" message.

Finally I feel bad that I didn't include Ang in my "Old Skool" crowd. She gives such valuable advice to people and is a shining example of how to survive in an IVA.

Dave I'm so pleased for you. Sorry I didn't reply yesterday but I wasn't on the forum much last night and have only just seen your post. I am so happy that everything has worked out for you, and that you stuck to your guns about the modifications. Thank you for all the support you have given me over the months, and please keep posting - the footy season will soon be upon us and I need another Man Utd fan to back me up!

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

Great news Dave.
I too have changed my forum name as I felt posts under a previous name might give our identities away.

Hi all

I would like to say that the forum is a great place to say what we feel and I don't want people thinking its too risky to say anything for fear of our creditors using it against us. We are very anonymous if we use a log-on name that has no connection to our real names (like BlueShoes) but I had discussed conversations I'd had with MBNA on more than one occasion. Add to this me listing my creditors and amounts owed, and the fact that I started using my first name at the end of posts and there's a remote possibility that somebody could identify you. Giving the time and date of the creditors meeting would be an additional clue.

My advice is to keep posting but always use a name with no association to your real name. Do post details of your creditors and amounts owed as the experts need this to give guidance. Just be more vague about when your meeting is. i.e. "sometime next week".

Regards

Dave

this is my first time on this site and after looking throught found it to be very helpfull. i have around 15k of debt and have been paying now for 2 years - my sister has offered to lend me some money but can only afford 2k. I would like to make an offer of this as a f&f - what do you think? what have other people offered in their circumstances? I dont want to appear to be cheeky to my creditors but to be honest I really am struggling with the monthly payments and just cant see me managing for the next three years - help.

In answer to Susan I'm afraid that such an offer has very very little chance of being accepted.

Hi Dave
Just read your post and wanted to add my congtatulations. I remember way back at the end of January when I first joined this forum you were the first person to post back offering support and I am so pleased that finally things are sorted for you.
