I called my ip at 4,I could not hold any more. Unfortunetly the creditors requested additional £155 between us. Barclays voted yes by 37% requested that amendment. I have asked my ip to agree to this as I just want this sorted, I will have to do without a few things. Waiting for the response from ip tomorrow.

How on earth are you going to afford that increase? In my opinion that is unaffordable, unless you did not put down correct figures in the first place. Why is your IP not representing you here and saying that you cannot afford this increase? By accepting such a high increase you are both effectively saying that the figures were not correct. There is always room for ongoing negotiation - we do it all the time with all of the creditors.

Thanks Melanie, we have been on DMP paying £600 pm for the last 2 years. As you know with DMP they are expenditure is less generous. Therefore I would rather pay that amount towards IVA.

Hi
I blame the creditors for asking for another £155.
What they are saying is that they do not agree with your IPs figures and now have put your IVA at risk.
A few extra pence dividend may mean that your IVA will fail whilst agreeing to the proposed figures would have drastically improved the chances of a successful IVA.
Good luck to you both.

The other point that I would like to make is that I just received a mortgage increase of £115 after sending my proposal. As a result of this, in my response to the creditors I have agreed to £155 but will actually pay the creditors additional £40 taking into account the mortgage increase.

Now I am completely lost - but assume that you feel you are doing the right thing. I am afraid that I do not, but like Andy wish you the best of luck.

It is cases like this which make the creditor industry believe that IPs are trying to fudge the figures, and that debtors can pay more - and sadly lots of genuine cases get unfairly inflated contributions increases which are barely affordable.

Sorted -

Surely your mortgage increase will have to be paid in ADDITION to the £155 extra requested directly by your creditors? Or does the £155 include the £115 mortgage increase - meaning that the actual IVA creditors only asked for a £40 per month increase?
47 months completed - 13 months to go.

Sorry for the delay in updating you of the outcome. I called the Ip office and was informed that the creditors have agreed by email, but they are waiting for the paperwork to come over.

To make it clear about my offer, the creditors requested additional £155 on our previous offer. But after making them aware of our recent mortgage increase of £115 they have agreed to £40 increase while I absorb the mortgage increase.

Now I waiting for the paperwork to come through. Thank you all for your support and encouragement.
