Mine took 8 months from start to IVA being approved, but I have a good IVA and looking back on posts on this forum I know I got a good deal. Whilst I agree timescales like this are too long ,if it means all the facts are looked into properly and thoroughly I wouldnt neccessarily write your IP company off as useless!!
Hello,
The reason for the question is during the nine months I was served with a CCJ. My circumstances were not exceptional (£40k & 5 creditors) and I constantly had to ring for progress, we seemed to start again every other week. I want to complain but I am gathering evidence to support my belief that the whole process took much too long.
Thanks for your input
Pete

Hi Andy,
Thank you for your input.
There were no exceptional circumstances - my debt was £40k and 5 creditors - and I cooperated fully and promptly when required. The main reason for my question is I am putting together a compaint to the governing body as during the nine months I was in receipt of a CCJ which I firmly belief was entirely the fault of the IP provider and wholly avoidable.
In terms of naming the IP I would do privately to you but if the case becomes a legal matter I do not want to prejuidice the matter.
Also I would appreciate any help, advice and support
Many thanks
Pete

I think yes 9 months does seem a little excessive but it does obviously depend on your own personal circumstances and what information your IP required and whether there was a delay with paperwork etc.

We made initial contact with someone at the end of August and it was passed to our IP around the middle of September with our creditors meeting was beginning of December so just over 3 months from start to finish. This was 3 years ago if that has a bearing on it.

Hi
There was no delays in my providing information and paperwork, I did it quickly and cooperated fully. My debt was £40k and 5 creditors and this was 2 and a half years ago. So no reason for delay.
Thanks for your input

Welcome to the forum peterdelg,

An IVA would take from 6 to 8 weeks. Nine months seems extremely excessive.

Hi Michelle,
Thank you for your input.
I am beginning to build a picture that 6-8 weeks is the norm for this process under normal circumstances

Are you still going to be proposing an IVA using another insolvency practitioner?

Hi Pete

It is unclear to me from your feedback if youre in the process of an IVA or if this event is history. If youre currently trying to propose an IVA then I would certainly consider changing your IP before you commit, 5 years is a long time to be with someone who you clearly do not trust. If the company you are using are called Synergi then I would urge you to change, this company has had very bad feedback on this forum. I would try Melanie, she has fantastic reviews here.

Hi Melanie,
I actually settled the IVA 12 months ago but even as the creditors meeting loomed, I really wanted to pull out andd use another provider - but I could not afford another delay - I wish I was aware of this site at the time

Thanks Lily,
I did actually settle the IVA last year after only one year - but I wish I was aware of this site at the time.

Many do Pete, that the problem. Glad you got your IVA settled though. Your IP should have a governing body or go to the financial ombudsman.
