Hi All

I wrote yesterday enquiring about paying 100p to the £ any way i wanted to enquire about how much i would have to pay off monthly in order to finish my IVA early......... so i called the general number and he spoke to someone else and came back to me to say that i would have to double my payments but it did not mean i would finish early it would just mean that i would be paying back double the amount.... which is way over what i owe including the IP fees! I said this was not right as i have done a lot of reading up on this! he insisted that it was i persisted and said i want to speak to someone else instead of getting third hand information! He then put me through to the correct person who explained it a lot more clearly to me and confirmed that i could finish early........ Just think if i had not persisted and i took the word of the 'middle man' anyone who has the same problems please keep persisting and a massive thank you to this forum as without the knowledge from this i would not know any better!

Hi Sarah

Well that is good news but did they mention statutory interest?

I am wondering whether you should get the advice confirmed in writing in case there is a come back!

Because my IP changed the settlement figure after 3 months!

Hi Ray

No he didn't and i have check and this is not mentioned any where in my proposal and have no fear they will be writing this up and sending me figures in the next couple of days..... i am not sure if i can even afford it yet but even if i can shave a few moths off it will be worth it i also asked if there was a possibility of having my 50% clause taken out and he said there was a strong case for this which will be good as the company i work for pay out a good yearly bonus!

Hi Sarah
You have highlighted one of the biggest problems regarding IVA providers............staff making decisions or giving out info that is simply not correct because they do not want to give you access to the IP.If you hadn,t of read up about this on the forum then you would have taken the info as gospel.
Trouble is how many people out there get and act on poor advice ????
This is why this forum is a godsend for people.

I completely agree! you would have thought that the staff on the general number would be trained better.... as polite as he was i found my self getting angry and frustrated as i knew he was wrong! and that is not me at all. I just hope that many people find this forum before they enter into an IVA as i certainly wish that i had i would have done a lot of things differently!

I was in the same position and persisted with letters and didn't accept their answers and finally got it in writing that I was going to be paying back 100p in the pound and my IVA would be concluded early as soon as this amount was reached. It really seems that they try it on and see if they can get away with things
