I have a date set for our creditors meeting and as advised by IP I have opened a new bank account this has been a current account with HSBC - I am very worried now as their are many negative comments saying that they will close my account, how can they know about the IVA if I havent advised them ? and if I dont have any credit with them ? please can anyone put my mind at rest - I feel its too late to open a new bank account now as I have defaulted on all my payments so my credit is not good

They find out about all IVAs by searching the IVA register which is available on line and will include your name and address. HSBC are not the right bank to use if you are going to be entering into insolvency proceedings.

Andy Davie will be around soon to give you good advice on where to go for a bank account - I am afraid that is not one of my specialities!

Hi
Sorry for the late reply[had problems logging on last night]
I am in the process of compiling details on the variou banks to use, or not, and hope to post this on the articles site soon.
The Co-op bank seem good, its called the cashminder and offers an electron card and DD and standing orders etc.
Another that offers 100% acceptance is Think Banking,08456343499,they offer a maestro card and DD,standing orders. There is a £12.50 monthly charge but its well worth it and its the account that I have used since my IVA and still use it even though I,ve completed it.

My clients have found Nationwide easy to do business with many taking out the Flex account with Nationwide.
