We had our IVA approved last month. This morning we received a vets bill for £360 from when our dog died last year. I thought my husband had paid it and he thought I had paid it. Now I feel we are in deep doo doo! We have no money to pay this as we are short this month anyway what with added expense of my husband starting his new job. Can we add this to the IVA or will this mean that the IVA failed. This is a genuine mistake and now we are both fretting like mad. I just feel it 2 steps forward and 20 back at the moment! If melanie or any of the other IPs can advise that wld be great.[:(]

Hey nomoredosh, you could ask your IP if you can miss a month's payment to pay this instead of adding it to the IVA? I'm sure Melanie will advise you. X

Gosh would that not look bad only just starting it. My other thought is we will be on much more money next month when my husbands 1st pay packet comes in. We will be doing a revised income and expenditure because of this and we have already informed IP about this change. i wonder if we could use the extra money to pay this off. The letter is saying that we are being passed to a debt collection agency if we don't pay within 7 days. We haven't had any letters from them for months thats why we didin't realise it hadn't been paid.

nomoredosh, I would call your IP on Monday, see what they suggest. I wouldn't worry too much about it, it's not going to mess your IVA up. I'm sure Melanie will reply and give you her opinion so hang in there. X

Hi Nmd. I would think this could possibly be added to the iva. Speak to your Ip asap and see what they say. Dont worry I am sure it will be easily solved.

It's not a problem at all - and one which is quite simple to fix. The debt is bound under the terms of the IVAs, because it is due to a creditor who would have been entitled to vote had they been included. So your IP simply needs to write to the creditor concerned and advise them of the IVA. You might have to pay a little bit more at the end of the IVA to compensate the other creditors, but given that this amount is quite small, it should not really matter too much.

Oh thanks everyone and thanks melanie. I will be on thatphone to my IP first thing on Monday morning. Our payments into the IVA will be going up anyway so creditors will be getting a better return than this time last month.[:)]

re your vets bill....it is no surprise you "forgot" if it had been paid...lets face it..you were in middle of an IVA and then losing a pet...altogether a traumatic time in both respects...so hope it gets sorted okay....

...enjoy wetherspoons...they have become our best friends here....they do fab meals ...2 for 7.00 includes drinks too....okay the menu is limited but thats okay....just being able to go out every now and then for ameal is a treat in itself...the minted lamb-burger is lovely
