Hi, so glad you're finding the forum supportive, that's out aim, help and support at all times without being judgemental.

You'll be helping people before you know it as your journey will help someone else. Why not start a blog to track your journey, it's therapeutic to say the least and when you look back it surprises you how far you've come. x

That's the great thing about the forum - from the minute you make your 1st post, you are already helping others, who may be in the same boat.

It has been a lifesaver for me and I intend to stick around and help as many people as I can.

I agree Mel - I count you and a lot of others on here as very good friends. In one way I'm glad I've got the IVA otherwise I'd never have met you all!!

Totally agree Jan, without debt, wouldn't have found the forum and met everyone.. Even if some I will never meet.

Everyone has different stories, opinions and experiences, so it's a lively place too[:)]

Apart from new friends the IVA has given me a not only a new appreciation ( an appreciation lost a generation ago) of money and it's value, but the realisation that money (or lots of it) isn't a pre-requisite for a happy life.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

This forum really is a godsend, everyone is so thoughtful and non judgmental and as debt, well especially uncontrollable debt is such a taboo and noone really discusses it with their friends you tend to think you are so alone and feel isolated that just to find other normal people like you going through the same thing makes you feel everything isn't quite so bad after all

Very true. I have never discussed our situation with my family and I have just 1 friend I have confided in. Defo a stigma attached to debt problems. It's reassuring to know we are not alone x

All my family and so called freinds know about me being in an iva. I do not feal ashamed i feel very proud in some strange way, i have admitted i have a problem i am dealing with it by getting as much back as i can to get myself debt free. Never again will i have debt and i hope my son aged 15 has learnt a lot from his mom and dads mistake. I have been in iva for four months now and i can sleep at night and not worry bout the post anymore.
If i listened to my Mom and Dad i would not be in the mess i am in now.
