Hi

We have made a full final settlement offer to IVA which has been accepted...(literally just)..certificate is in the post they have told us and it has been settled 3yrs early. We are now looking to the future. Due to ill health we have split in to, two camps myself and children near to my parents so I have more support and my partner still in our house paying mortgage with help of two lodgers.

We are looking to the future 12 months from now to sell our house and for partner to move down here to be with us and for us to buy here which is way cheaper than where we were... we will have a lump sum of about 50k with a inheritance from me lovely gran who recently passed god bless her and savings small lump of equity ect...and a wage of 30k a year coming in... WILL it be possible for us to get a mortgage?..if so what kind of mortgage amount would we be looking at?

jo

Good luck to the house move !

Hi and welcome to the forum. Shaun and Ryan's contact details can be found in the ask experts a question link, they'll be sure to be able to give you some expert advice. All the best for your future, sincerely hope it works out for you.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your gran.

I was just wondering though, did your Iva expect you to repay all of what you originally owed or did you just make an offer to end it early? With inheritance, or a windfall as they call it, I was told they would expect all of the original amount of debt to be paid back.

I am sure that one of the brokers who posts on the forum would be able to help you with a mortgage - but do remember that property ownership is not the be all and end all. Many families live very comfortably in rented accommodation, and I would have thought it is more important for you to be reunited as a family, than wait simply to buy another property - which I am sure will come along in time in any case.
