My wife and I have a joint IVA with Debtmatters, today I received a letter from Grant Thornton thus;

Further to our telephone conversation concerning your IVA in which we discussed your case having been transferred by The High Court of Justice on 20th February 2008.

We acknowledge your instruction to carry out a variation meeting(which you need not attend).

In order we have record on file of your instruction, please sign this letter where indicated and return in the pre-paid envelope supplied.

Neither my wife or myself have received a telephone call from Grant Thornton. The letter has no telephone number or e-mail address to contact Grant Thornton.

I note that Grant Thornton's address on the return envelope is identical to Payplans.

Firstly, has anybody else received this letter and can anybody advise me as to what to do next. Ideally I would like to know more details of the variation meeting and what might happen at it - perhaps the experts might be able to tell me what is likeky to happen at this meeting or am I over reacting and should just sign the letter and return it to Grant Thornton

Hi
Well Debtmatters have sold your IVA to Grant Thornton,no problem there.However what is the variation meeting all about ? Did you request one with Debtmatters ?
I would contact GT,google them to find a number,and see if you can find out about the proposed meeting.Could be crossed wires

This deal is getting stranger and stranger. Have Grant Thornton merged with Payplan - or are they just running out the Debtmatters cases as a joint venture?

Who is now acting as your Supervisor - ie the name of the person rather than the firm, and what address are they using?

Thanks Andy and Mel for your replies

Andy - we have not requested a variation meeting, have not defaulted in any way and all payments have been paid on time by standing order

Mel - the letter was headed Grant Thornton, the address Payplan's and the letter signed of behalf of Mark Allen or Gareth Neil who are IP's with Grant Thornton and their addresses are in Belfast

I really do not know what to make of it all.

PS. Yesterday's due payment was colllected by Debtmatters Ltd.

Andy

As this topic is receiving a lot of interest on the forum, could you contact GT on behalf of iva.co.uk to find out what exactly the arrangements are with regard to these three firms.
