Hi all, I haven't posted for a while for a couple of different reasons, things are tighter than ever etc etc, my question is: I have been offered a 'mates mate' deal by Virgin media, the package is for 165 channels, extra box, free calls 30mb broadband fibre optic stuff, it is only £38 per month for as long as I keep it, no increase etc after 6 months, it works out around £10 cheaper than I am currently paying so I'm not being frivolous with money, anyway, Virgin have just rung me to say my application is going to their credit department as something has 'shown up', does this mean I can kiss goodbye to the deal?

Possibly so ricbro - if they have checked your credit record your IVA will show up.

However, they may still give you the deal so don't give up hope.

You will have to wait and see ricbro but if Virgin do a credit check on you it wont be good and unfortunately they may reject your application.

Hey

If it makes you feel at ease at all, when I moved into my new place just over a year ago (when we were 3 years nearly into IVA) we took out a virgin media bundle deal as it was also cheaper, it was referred and came back fine. Can't remember how long the process took though.

Always looking on the bright side!

We have a package with Virgin. The only thing that they asked from us at the referral was that we paid a sum upfront - think it may have just been one months fee certainly no more or we wouldn't have been able to pay. We have been with them for a year or so and now pay by direct debit. Good luck - sounds like a very cheap deal, we pay more than that for just phone & broadband. Telephone calls are dear if they are not 01 02 03 etc even on the anytime package.
It's been a long road getting from there to here but it's been worth it!

I took the £38 'mates rates' deal with virgin media out in June, admittedly my Iva wasnt accepted until the month after in July but by June I had stopped paying my creditors so all the missed payments etc would have been on my credit file, I had to stay on the phone whilst they ran a credit check, which brought me out in a sweat I must admit, but they accepted me without any problems, but as I mentioned I wasnt in my Iva at that point but I was still a 'risky' customer!

Fingers crossed that they take you on. Its hardly a risk for them though even if you fail the credit check,if you dont pay one month they just pull the plug on you!!!!

Thanks for all of your replies, they are phoning me back tomorrow with an answer, I'll let you know. Asplasticdaft says it's not a lot of money and they can always cut me off, back on track, one of my mates works for a company that sells packages for Virgin at low rates.
