So, as most of you know I have my home abroad. A farm. Before my IVA I purchased a ticket to go over there and spend a few weeks working on painting the place... three weeks of relaxation and lots of cheap wine... in reality, this is what happened;

Got home to find;

Phone, Satellite and internet all OFF.
House Alarm (super important), blew up.
Roof is coming down in one of the rooms. It now rains inside.

Yeah... wait for it

5 Days into so called holiday my water well pump packed in. I had no water.

You giggling yet?

Two weeks plus of using a bucket to get water from a 20 meter deep well, still have the blisters, oh and wait. Rope broke on the first bucket. So now thats at the bottom of said well... its a pink bucket. Made me giggle everytime I went to get water....

No money for any of the work that needs doing. I wonder what the place will look like when we return.

But! I am smiling. I am back in the UK and I have RUNNING WATER!!!!

It only ever happens to me.

xx

Just think one day you will be able to focus on this and afford the repair work...until then suggest you keep focused on your dream!

I did have a good time, especially in the evenings with a bottle of wine sitting outside just looking at the stars.... and had a wonderful enconter with a hare that decided to sit in front of me and watch me for a few minutes.... was so cute!

Anyone interested in a free holiday? ish.... free food and wine, all I ask for is for you to bring a paint brush and know how to use it!!

Seriously though... anyone? LOL!!

Miak, a friend of mine did that sort of thing a while back -- she bought an old cottage in the Malvern hills. Friends used to stay for a couple of weeks at a time and, in return, do a little repair work or purchase materials.

I am sure we have a few painters, decorators and builders here that could do with a (sort of) holiday :-)
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
