Does anyone know if your bearings are going in your machine is it worth mending. The machine is five years old possibly a bit more and I was quoted £140, just not sure if worth the rep[air or if the quote was reasonable. Any help appreciated. Sounds like heathrow airport when it spins.

I have one of those monthly payment repair things-£10 that covers washer, cooker and dishwasher to meant if anything goes wrong and replace if they can't meant. Domestic and GENERAL? But, best stil I only took the policy out when washer was sounding very ill. They would charge if couldn't be mened so took a chance. But because they could mend it it was a much reduced fee and the commencement of monthly payments. Cat

I did have the cover but it finished. I think I will have to dip yet again into our savings but will wait until it totally goes. Shame for the neighbours though as it is dreadfully noisy, got a horrible feeling the dryer doesnt sound as healthy as usual, but thats the norm as with microwaves they just dont like me.
If I have to get another i will make sure I cover them and keep it going. I have got cover on the cooker and the dyson so at least I wont have to replace those.

Hi
You can buy a new washing machine for not much more than that Ang and have a 12 month warranty with it included.

Another random thought
Rent one at £2.99 a week so £140 = about 47 weeks
But it depends where you live ..

and then no worries if it breaks down , they repair or replace.

Thanks mish you made me laugh, trouble is I cant fit the enviromental one in the same space !
Thanks for all your comments, I pretty much knew I would need a new one but just wondered if the bearings actually should cost that much. I will wait till after xmas and see whats on offer, poor hubbys car contingency takes yet another beating he is a sweetie and wanted to go and buy one straight away but i will wait til post xmas or until it bites the dust.
Jpj lol couldnt see me getting 10rpm let alone a 1000.
Thanks again.
