Myself and my partner have had an IVA for 1 year now, we are needing to move immediately to a new property to rent as our current landlords are wanting to sell the property. I am aware that most landlords/estate agents now apply for a credit rating, is it safe to say that we will never be approved? We have never missed an IVA payment, and have never even tried to take out more credit since signing up with the IVA. Will any of this show up?

Hello Kerry and Welcome to the Forum,

I would firstly advise that you contact your I.P and let them know of your current situation, they may suggest a payment break to help you out.

As you mentioned most estate agents do perform credit checks, however you could always be upfront and honest with them about your situation and see what their response is, this may end up in your paying a slightly bigger deposit. On the other hand you could always look for properties with private landlords as most of them would not do a credit check.

Depending on your particular situation you may be eligible to apply to your Local Council under Homeless legislation. However it would depend if you met the criteri of vulnerablity set out in law.
I would pursue a private landlord - they usually advertise in local newspapers.
