Oooh, I miss being able to eat ice cream since I stopped eating most dairy. It was so hard in Dorset - no ice cream, no cream teas. I did only put on 3lb in 2 weeks though!

Well I went to WW on Monday but I can't tell you how I got on as the leader didn't turn up so we weren't weighed! I wasn't happy, it was a lousy night and I didn't want to go out in the first place! Oh well, I've got to keep myself motivated for next week!

How annoying Skippy! Luckily that never happened to us but my willpower and motivation was rubbish!!! We used to go home after being weighed and have takeaway hmmmmm....but I'm sure you'll be fine this week.

I don't have the budget for classes so I eat a bowl of fruit & nut for breakfast and then one for lunch and at the moment it works for me. I managed to lose a stone before the wedding by living on cereal, slimfast & guiness! Not recommended as hubby got fed up of cooking his own dinners!

I had to do something as I was getting bigger and bigger! I can't really afford the fees, but the way I'm looking at it is that if I had the willpower to do it myself that £20 a month would be back in my clothing budget!

At the moment I have a bowl of cereal for breakfast, a roll of some sort for lunch, more cereal to keep me going until the evening (we eat late!) and then my dinner.

I can't have Slimfast as I can't have much milk and the powder has milk powder in it. I tried Slimming World but couldn't be bothered with the red and green days - I had to think too much! I think the only way I think I will lose weight is if I can find the motivation to get back down the gym!

hey skippy, I noticed that you say that you eat late.

This can be really bad if you are trying to lose weight, essentially all the food you eat gets stored as fat while you sleep.

Try this and see if it helps at all: eat what ever you want but ensure that you do not eat anything after 6pm (latest 7pm). If you feel hungry then drink lots of water to fill you up. If you really need a snack or something then try some nuts or rice crackers.

If you do exercise in the evening then try to avoid eating lots of high energy food when you get back (a natural temptation). This lack of food after exercise forces the body to use its reserves and this leads to weight loss. If you do eat something then avoid sugary carbohydrate food and focus on protein. E.g. chicken salad.

If you want to be a bit more aggressive then go to the gym in the evening and do a cardiovascula work out (e.g. 10mins run, 10mins bike, 10mins row). Then do not eat anything until the next morning. It takes getting used to but after a while you become accustomed. You should see the weight fall off rapidly.

Best, Admin Team.

Thanks for that Admin. I find it hard to eat much before 8pm as I'm either off to Weight Watchers, going to see my mum or if I'm being really good (which isn't often!) going to the gym. I will make an effort though!

I think I could do with joining your group, feeling really fedup with myself today, knew I was putting weight on but now its got to the stage where the only thing that fits me are my work uniform and my pyjamas,I work 5 or 6 nights a week and for some reason I just cant get into a good eating pattern I always end up feeling so tired I need chocolate for energy(my excuse anyway) does anyone else work nights and find this a problem and do they have any tips.

I followed the Rosemary Conley Low Fat diet for a few weeks last year with some good results. Essentially you can eat anything that has no more than 5 grams of fat per 100 grams. You would be amazed at how much of theses foods are out there.

Also I'm a big fan of Sainsburys food labels with the red, amber and green pie charts.

The tesco GI diet online was pretty good I lost half a stone whilst doing it properly and you do have a lot to eat. Really recommed the prawn pasta salad as that was very scrummy and very very filling and coz its low GI it gives you bags of energy and stops you having those drop off points.

Hi Hallway
I work nights and suffer the same problems as you. It is difficult to keep a regular eating pattern. I too tend to go for sweet things when I am at work, and coffee, thought I have tried to cut that one back.
I think the best way is to try to eat smaller amounts in the same way as you would on days. I have a small meal in the afternoon a while after getting up ( breakfast) then my sarnies about midnight if able and then a piece of toast or cereals before going home or just before bed. My prob is eating all the sweets a chocs that are lying around at work, not forgetting the muffins or other things brought in by workmates.
Bet this is no help whatsoever but I do commiserate not easy to work nights I have done 28 years of it now and am too old to change.

I suppose it could work - after I'd paid £145 to do the course I wouldn't be able to afford food!
