Just thought I'd share this. It came as a welcome respite amidst all the stress of the last few weeks.

OK, I received my first request to contact one of my creditors today. [:(] (I have written to all of them over the last few days)

So, deep breath... ring..ring...Hello?

We went through the usual security questions and platitudes and the guy explained that they had noticed a missed payment this month.
I explained that I had cancelled my DD and that after taking professional advice it was likely that I would be seeking to enter into an IVA with my creditors.
I explained that I had appointed an IP and that I was just waiting to receive the LOE and my reference number.

I closed my eyes, grit my teeth and held my breath.... then came the reply...

"OK, that's fine sir, I will place a hold on any futher calls and if you can forward me your IP details and reference number when you receive them, we can get your IVA moving along for you!" [:0]

You could have knocked me over with the proverbial!

I know they're not all going to be this accommodating but it was a good start. [:D]

I have to say that I didn't have too much trouble either as long as I talked to them. I guess it depends on who they are. They only ones I had trouble with were Nationwide my actual bank account, who I didn't expect it of. They rang every day, first on landline, then on mobile, I just ignored it eventually.

But I certainly found talking to the other helped. I know some people have had real nightmares though

Hi duracel, I too was pretty amazed at the laid back attitude but found I had to keep repeating the same thing over and over to some of them.
It certainly made that stage of the process a lot easier to bear as I was expecting a lot of hassle from them[:)]

Some of my creditors M&S were very good to me others Barclaycard were horrendous, it does depend on who they are I agree. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

M & S never gave me the slightest bother either, the only one who dragged their heels about freezing interest etc. when I was on the DMP, was Nat West Card Services - needless to say that one was the smallest amount I owed!!
Final payment 1st April 2016.
Completion Certificate received 19th May 2016.

Barclaycard are one of mine so on the basis of what I've read over the last couple of weeks I'm not looking forward to that one!

Perhaps this change in tone from the banks is a result of their own demise, the boots on the other foot and they now know what it's like to be in financial trouble.

Lloyds TSB and RBS were my most aggressive creditors when I was applying for my IVA and look at the state they are in now.

What goes around, comes around [^][^][^]
IVA COMPLETED ON THE 17th MARCH, FINAL I&E COMPLETED 26th APRIL, COMPLETION CERTIFICATE ARRIVED 2nd AUGUST

Hi all. duracel i glad to hear you didnt have any trouble on that one. I am ashamed to say i have not answered any of my calls yet. I keep saying i will answer them tomorrow, but then tomorrow comes and i feel like i cant bring myself to pick up the phone. My husband has been answering his so they seem to have died down. THEY WERE STARTING FROM 8AM EVERY MORNING! I am in the house all day pretty much every day, so i just sit and listen to the phone ring. Just got two letters from the same debt (one of my husbands), saying exactaly the same. I dont mind opening the letters.
Dawn

I wouldn't worry dawng1, answer them or not doesn't appear to have any bearing on the meeting outcome. Unplug the phone if you can and enjoy the silence. xx
