Hi
Have only just got back in so been off forum most of the day.

With regard to all of the creditors I am sure they will all sit tight for a few days while you review your options. If anyone phones and gives you some trouble the choices you have are :-

1. tell them you are speaking to a debt solution company and they will be in touch in a few days

OR

2. Don't confirm your date of birth & personal details on the phone because of data protection. Also your bank recommends that you don't give out personal details to people you don't know - so only following the banks advice.
Ask them to write instead.

If they can't confirm it is you they can't have a conversation so can't give you grief!.

take care

It might help if t=you go through the separate solutions to debt and talk about each of them.

IVA
Bankruptcy
Debt management
Consolidation
do nothing & hope for the best.

If you go through each of these ( any you now have some good info on each of them) then you can work through the likelihood of that solution being right for you.

For example you don't have enough equity to do a secured consolidation loan or remortgage so that is not likely etc.

From what you have said so far you should look at either DMP or BR.

However due to the low disposable income you actually won't clear your debt at all but it would be a way to calm down your creditors a little.

Again happy to speak to Mr Manubabe if he needs to understand more fully the options.

I like the name Mr Manubabe!

Good luck with getting everything sorted out, you'll find a solution in the end. I can't remember if you've said, but do you have much equity in your property? The reason I'm asking is that BR really isn't as scary as you think and would put an end to your debts once and for all.

I was worried to death that people would find out, and in the end I told the people closest to me, and they were fine. My main worry was that Dave's ex wife would see the notice and tell his mum (who has never been in debt in her life), but she didn't and I would have dealt with it if she had - I would have had to.

Tell your creditors you cannot afford to pay them anything at the moment and that you are taking professional advice as to the way forward. Bankruptcy will bring you immediate relief from debt pressure, so to some extent is is an ideal solution for someone in your position, but of course you have to want to follow that and if your husband refuses to consider it then unfortunately this pressure will probably continue.
