We've tried telling her Lesley, and we might just as well talk to the wall. We have suggested she goes for an IVA and given her the number of Payplan, but I think she likes the 'payment holidays' she takes and she wouldn't be able to do that.

She moved up here from Poole a few years ago after her divorce, and still goes to visit friends from there (how she affords the petrol I don't know). A couple of Christmases ago she told us that she couldn't afford to buy presents for anyone - fair enough, but she didn't pay her mortgage or DMP payments that month as she was going down to Bournemouth and had to buy her friends presents! (We found this out off her brother!)

To say my hubby was annoyed would be an understatement!

She always seems to come up smelling of roses though - don't know how she does it.

Sometimes one has to experience a real crisis to learn. I think that the experience of setting up a DMP is less scary than the process of an IVA which is all very legal and brings home the reality of one's debt situation more.

The trouble is though Debbie, she doesn't learn. She just lurches from one crisis to another but manages to keep her head above water.
She has a problem with the floor in her house, an ex gave her £1000 to sort it - and she just blew the money!

She goes through men like they are going out of fashion, as long as they buy her drinks and gifts, they are ok. Even her father despairs of her - I won't tell you what he calls her.

And all this before she is 30!
