Well the first ever Frugal Friends Xmas party turned out to be better than expected.
The main change for this meeting, compared to previous ones, was the introduction of a guest speaker.Vicky Ross gave a superb hour long talk on "positive thinking whilst dealing with adversity", she had the whole audiance captivated.
This was the busiest ever frugal friends meeting and was kindly sponsored by Melanie Giles and Vincent Bond, Paul Johns MD of Reviva kindly, once again, donated some Champagne and wine for a prize draw. Who would believe that the three winners were Melanie Giles and two of her team !!!!
The evening was helped along with an unlimited bar and a lovely buffet.
It was lovely to meet new faces to Frugal Friends, including Kallis and husband plus Roadrunner and his wife.
The conversation flowed and we finally called it a night at 1am.
These informal meetings have gone from strengh to strengh.
Finally a big thank you to Aguise who organised the event from top to toe, faultless.
You can see Vicky's talk very shortly on IVA.co.uk tv

Regards
Andam Davies

Its on there now, the postive thinking talk on iva.co.TV.

It was a great eveing but I didnt think the talk was relevent to the absolute stress people are going through. There was a yesterday and there will be a tomorrow and not just this one moment to think about. What we did or lived with yesterday will effect the events of today and tomorrow and what we do today will also have its bearing.

It was a fantastic night Andy, and I look forward to many more.

I wasn't actually captivated by the talk though. I agree with Lily.

I wanted me tea as well!![:D][:D]

decided to be brave and add my comments to this thread....it was a great night...our second FF...but a very different atmosphere to the previous one at slough.....i kinda thought we would have more of a party.....and altho the subject of having speakers had come up it maybe wasnt the best FF to launch a new format....and then to add cameras and a fairly long talk certainly wasnt my idea of deely boppers party night .

having said that...and i really hope no-one sees it as criticism....i cant fault the speaker...she was excellent....she didnt seem to draw breath....she knew her stuff and didnt use notes...so all praise to her....i dont think i was "captive"...just being polite

but if we are going to have topics...my preference would be focus-ing on the main things we need to have help on and certainly not having cameras there either.

having her speak for an hour meant it was almost 9 pm before we got food and we hadnt eaten since 1pm....so fell upon the buffet....
but ....we did really enjoy chatting to people but sad we didnt get to wear our deely boppers and even pulling the crackers was a bit half hearted after so long....and no sing song either !!!!
look forward to more FF in 2009....thanks andy

MTL - I'm glad there was no sing song! I am quite happy to just go along and chat to people freely about my situation and meet some of the people I 'converse' with on here.

And very nice your deely boppers looked as well! I chickened out I'm afraid! Roadrunners did wear them, but not quite how they should be worn!

He did look funny though!
