My daughter turned 18 last week & went to pay a cheque from an auntie into the bank . When she got home she said that when she had got to the counter they took her into a side room for 20 mins & tried to talk her into an overdraft & credit card as she was now 18.

Good news is she turned them down on both!!! I think seeing what I have done & the effect it has had on the family has put her off.

Thank god some good is coming out of my mess[:)]

Part of the reason that people get into such difficulties from an early age without realising that the debts actually have to be repaid. Well done to her for failing to be tempted.

Very wise, prevention is better than cure!

Reminds me that a few years ago following my son entering a prize draw at a Star Trek Exhibition he received confirmation that he had pre-approval for a Star Trek Credit card. Nothing unusual in that, apart from he was 12 years old at the time!

Very wise indeed.
I started with a credit card with a £1000 limit when I was 18. I'm now 30 and in an IVA with total debts worth £47k. It's a slippery slope once it starts.
