Judo, i do proper cross country biking or all mountain biking as its called these days, £2k is entry level, some of the guys and girls on the trails ride bikes worth £4-£5k these days.

The OH understands my need for extreme sports and biking is my first love, and she has allowed? is that the right word? she has agreed to a holiday, although i get the feeling she would prefer a wedding in the sun so will see when the next 9 months comes round.

My final IVA payment is in Nov this year. I spoke to my employer's earlier this year and they have granted me extended leave so that I can go and travel Australia next year. Will be summer next year when I go as I need to save hard after IVA ends. I've been planning this in my head for a couple of years now. Then, I don't know what to with myself other than enjoy debt free life!
Last payment made on 1st Nov 2011. Happy to be debt free!

Hey Judo, I never thought I would be able to do it cos thought I was always going to pa debt for the rest of my life. Then entering the IVA gave me a glimmer of hope and now 4.5 years on, the IVA is nearly over. Can't wait to start planning Australia trip :)

Wow, an extended trip to Australia sounds good to me! You'd have to take out the spiders and poisonous snakes first though!

He Kallis, luckily for me spiders and snakes don't bother me although can't say I've encountered poisonous species here in UK so will have to have my wits about me down under. Is anyone else thinking of planning a well deserved extended trip or holiday abroad after IVA is over?

wow! I am so glad I started this thread, some of you have some amazing ideas on here!

Grand Canyon is one we def want to do but when we've finished the IVA our youngest will only be 13 so will still have to wait a few years before we can head off on our own to do those kind of holidays, road trip across America, Patagonian Andes, Macchu Picchu, Nepalese trek through the himalaya, there are loads we want to see and do, will have to save for a while I think!

I have been saving like mad, been a real scrooge since last October, and am going to China in September, including a cruise on the Yangtse, have to pay for it tomorrow, will need a lie down in the afternoon[:)]Can't decide whether to continue as scrooge and put India with national park looking for tigers on the to do list or Borneo to see Orangutans..

Borneo would be my choice! You may as well do it all and just scrimp and save a bit more!

My goal is to start saving money after my IVA, to never ever have a credit card again and to be very careful with money.
We will be saving to move to another country too. Britain is driving me bonkers.
I had the blues because I had no shoes until upon the street, I met a man who had no feet.

oooh loving reading these aims! I love the Grand Canyon, been a couple of times, including a flight over as I was lucky enough to win $1200 on a 5c slot machine in Vegas yippee! So love Vegas too.

I've got 6 years to go yet though so lots of time to plan!
