What are your top five ways to save money?

I love charity shops and Ebay as well. I got a jacket for £8.20 last week (including P&P) for a jacket priced in the shops at £60.

I have never go into ebay will have to give a go sometime.
I don't seem to have much spare time these days we have daughter and grandson living with us at the moment and I am working full time but at least I have a job.

My kids have adopted my Midland eating habits. I love what I call dip which is the fat from the Sunday roast while it is still warm with bread topped off with a little salt. I also eat drippin' and picalilly sandwiches. Jelly and custard is also a fav with us all.The kids joke that I would eat lard and lettus ,what I say is dont knock it till you have tried it.

I like bread dipped in the warm fat from the roast its defiantly a Midlands thing as that is where I am from although not lived there for 20 years. [:D] Then there is chips and gravy...

My daughter has gravy with most things even fish and chips, I don't have gravy personally. We're in Lincolnshire x

Chips with gravy is lovely, but wouldn't have it with fish though.

Our dripping is the fat saved from the beef roast usually, allowed to set and then spread on bread or toast and seasoned with salt and pepper. Love it!

I also love bread dipped in the fat from fried bacon - gorgeous!

Ok, the thread is a little bit old but...
Nevertheless, here are my saving methods:

1.heat less - especially when youre not at home or at night
2.try to cook for several days
-for examle: I always cook too many noodles and fry them the next day.
3.Read the ads carefully - when you have time,then split your shopping and try to buy everything as cheap as possible
4.Make a shopping list (!!!)
5.drive by bike or go on foot as often as possible - its healthy and it saves fuel

Won't be riding or walking to work as I'm a shift worker, live 12 miles from work along dark country roads!

Couldnt heat any less than I do now as we have no central heating just an open fire and a rayburn. The open fire costs us nothing as the wood comes off the estate and if we didnt have it it would just rot and the rayburn is oil which we try to fill up in the summer when the price is cheaper. No heating at all upstairs just hot water bottles and really thick duvets.

You're braver than me Carol, I couldn't live like that as I can't stand being cold.

I won't be walking to work either - I don't fancy walking along the towpath in the dark!

I try to keep just the living room warm and refuse to be cold in there, if I have to live on home made soup for every meal then so be it!!

Not had any heating or hot water for 8 days now, today it's warmer outside than in my house! My hubby said this morning when he came in from seeing to the dogs, I've put my coat on to come inside! Hopefully not too much longer now. x

Got one in the lounge Skippy, and borrowed one for dining room. I dread the electric bill! Oh well we'll cope. Daughter gets wrapped up to do her homework, nothing will stop her bless her x
