What do I say when my first default happens on 3rd Jan with lots to follow. I hope to have spoken to a IVA pro by then but with christmas I do not expect anything to get sorted by then.

Honeybunny, why don't you speak to Melanie Giles who posts on this forum. She has a fantastic reputation as a IP. I'm sure she could advise you on what is the best route for you to take, and you will feel so much better having taken the first steps in dealing with your problem. Why not do it before xmas, and then you can enjoy yourself a little.

Hi Honeybunny

An IVA can be put forward within 24 hours if necessary - so don't be put off by the Christmas period - but it will depend upon you forwarding the information to the person you choose to represent you so make sure you have all of your creditor statements and wage-slips easily to hand.

Ours needed 3 months pay slips and bank statements. I think certain finace related jobs might be affected, but employers don't seem to need to know. Nor do friends, nieghbours, family. The informtion goes on the insolvency register. That was a shock seeing name and address, star sign and bra size (kidding!) up there, but I guess I have only looked recently so people who are looking are only there because of thier situation? I ask for at least three months payslips and bank statements. It is very unlikely that you would need to advise your employer of an IVA.

Once an IVA has been proposed how long does it usually take to get it approved or amended?

Once it is actually proposed,i;e sent out to each of your creditors they will receive a minimum of sixteen days notice, probably upto 28 days for the creditors meeting.
