Hi Kelly
Welcome to the forum.
Are you already in an IVA or still at the thinking about it stage? If you are already in an IVA you will need to discuss with your IP. If you are still thinking, would suggest you take advice from 2/3 IP's,suggest you visit www.iva.com for feedback from various companies who will give you free non judgemental advice given your personal circumstances. Do stick around as I am sure others will also have advice for you
our ip agreed to us paying a reduced payments for several months whilst we were on maternity leave, payments return to normal as soon as i return back to work.
our IP didnt give us any support at all when i was on maternity leave in fact they were very unhelpful.we had to make full payments ! .id like to say this is an exception so good luck with the Ip
If you are already pregnant and planning to do an IVA, you need to discuss the effect your maternity will have on your income wih your IVA company so this can be built into the plan at the beginning. This should then mean that there are no issues.
If you are in an IVA and then fall pregnant, it is possible to reduce payments based on the change of circumstances. These could then be made up by adding extra payments to the end of the plan.
It's also possible that you might be able to take a payment break if you are planning to go back to work afterwards.

hy james
was very stressful and they almost made us feel like we were alien and shouldnt be having a baby in an iva.
At the time ? 2006 ivas were new and i think the company were inexperienced. Also we were scared and very isolated ,im not sure how we managed to be honest ,but been in a iva isnt easy or fun!.Any we did make it james and we have only 5 payments to go and more than that a wonderful child to make those days stressful days a bit more manageable
Hi Orange - I'm glad to hear you got through it successfully! I have to admit, I was a bit surprised at first that IVAs could flex around anything that made life more expensive...but I suppose none of us can put our lives on hold. I'm still surprised at some of the allowances we can claim rather than going without LOL.
i guess broke of london life goes on and there are many and varied reasons that our lives to change and the move on .I guess at the time of signing for an iva we dont know what twists of sadness or joy we may endure
On the other hand though BOL, if we didn't have these allowances and were just allowed the bare bones I don't think many of us would do them!
We don't live the high life but we do manage reasonably well. My big luxury is Sky TV and if I didn't have that I think I'd go mad!

This would be of interest to me also, we've just over 4 years to go and I would like another baby within this time. But I'm apprehensive because of payments and I don't want to extend any longer.
My IVA will end 21 days before my 30th birthday!! I'll be celebrating then!!
Don't put your life on hold Briggadeen, you may find that you wouldn't have to extend depending upon whether or not you could make up extra payments.
BOL - the only time I go out now is on a Sunday for lunch if parents are paying for it!

Just wondered on the Sky TV point whether they allow you just the basic package or any extras? Like you, it's our only luxury. We're just starting out on the IVA road and I hope we can keep what we subscribe to.
Thanks
