Most Insolvency Practitioners these days do not charge any up front fees, and all initial advice is provided free of charge whilst you are deciding what to do.

It might be possible to perhaps propose an IVA on the basis of offering your share of the house sale proceeds, but of course your husband would need to agree to this. If you are left with any disposable income, creditors would also expect you to offer this up as well.

Best to take advice - and maybe verify that by talking to two or three other firms to compare the options you are presented.

Hope it all goes well for you, and well done for plucking up the courage to share this with your husband. You are a team at the end of the day, and although he will initially be shocked he will be an immense support to you over the next few weeks and a great sounding board when deciding what to do.

Hi Honneybunny, my creditors meeting is on monday, so i'm not actually in an IVA at the moment. You won't have to cancel your holiday.

ONE OF MY CREDITORS WAS CITI FINANCIAL WHO WHEN I WAS ON DMP THEY ACCEPTED THE OFFER BUT THEN SOLD TO FIRST CREDIT WHO WANTED MORE WHICH I AGREED TO HAVE MISSED ONE PAYMENT SO FAR DUE TO SETTING UP AN IVA AND HAVE ISSUED ME A STATUORY DEMAND FOR 2400 DO YOU THINK IF THEY TRY AND MAKE ME BANKRUPT BEFORE MY CREDITORS MEETING I HAVE A GOOD CHANCE TO HAVE THE BANKRUPTSY PUT ON HOLD UNTIL AND IF MY IVA IS ACCEPTED

Probably - but as I keep saying to you please discuss this as a matter of urgency directly with your own IP.
