Please can you explain to me what happens when you have been discharged from bankrupcy in terms of your credit reference reports? It's just that i have applied for a cashminder account with the co-operative bank and have been informed that experian are dealing with it and i am not sure whether the account will be refused even though i have been discharged from my bankrupcy?! I am sure that i once heard that you can contact these agencies and tell them to remove any outstanding amounts owed that are showing, but to be honest i havent a clue about whats true or not and do not know what to do. Please can you help me.
Kindest regards,

Details of your bankruptcy will remain on your credit files for 6 years from the date of the bankruptcy order.

Many thanks for the reply Melanie [:)] Please can you confirm for me if there any truth that once you have been dicharged from bankrupcy, you can ask the credit reference agencies to remove any bad marks against your name?
I heard this once but have no idea if it is true.
Many thanks for your help [:)]

No - as you are discharged from bankruptcy after one year, but the entries remain on your credit file for six.

Hi
The last entry from the creditor, possibly a default, will stay on your credit file along with the bankruptcy for six years. This can not be amended even if you are discharged.
