Aye - money is always an issue, mine is always asking for more .. Im trying to 'educate' her and am trying to get her a saturday job, 1) to keep her busy and 2) to hopefully learn the value of things better.
her mum has started giving her pocket money but its intermittant but at least its a help.
Re the 'value' food, some it really does taste terrible but other stuff is ok, I have been involving her in the kitchen , cooking, baking etc for years so she does surpirse me now and then by cooking a meal. She's pretty good at cooking meals for the lads tho !
I've been a single dad for nearly 8 years now , and the teenage years are the hardest so far .. teenogres are hard work .

Sometimes the value stuff isn't really value at all - Dave's mum buys the value bleach and washing up liquid and it is so thin and runny that she has to use about 10 times as much as the more expensive stuff. We've tried telling her this but luck!

Some things do have to be named brands though - Kelloggs cereal, Heinz tomato ketchup and baked beans and Andrex toilet roll!

I use Morrison’s own brand stuff, its good and they always seem to have Buy One Get One Free offers on. Tonight we are having roast chicken, boiled potatoes and salad.

Kids can be soo fussy! For cereals, I just replace the inside packet of an “own brand” cereal into an expensive brand box I have saved, kids cannot tell the difference! hahaha

My mum did that to my dad with his brown sauce and he didn't know the difference. I tried Tesco's own version of Special K and it was revolting. The worst thing I ever tried was Tesco's value shower gel - I sat at work all day scratching!

Oh Mish and hallway I've been there and done the teenager thing I had four. It seems like their mates never go home, Iused to say go to someone elses for a change but they all liked it here, a compliment I think though didnt feel like it. Three were older and have all left a while ago and little one went last year at 19, a quiet house is nice sometimes, but love it when they all come to visit, though with all their attachments now I hope they dont all come at the same time. I can never get a seat.[:D]

Hi all just to show how stupid i am, I shopped online this week as working nights, hubby just gone to work, had his dinner. I in my wisdom ordered two lots of hickory smoked ribs ( thought ooh nice for a friday night treat) I now have two big bags of hickory smoked ribs , but they are tortillas,[:I][:o)] I thought they were ribs in a sauce, dont even like them.[V]
I think I'll go back to bed and sulk.

I always like a bargain... since I went to birmingham Indoor Market I have discovered that you can buy your meat and fish fresh and much cheaper.
I.E.
3 pieces of joint pork for a tenner
a tray of chicken breat about 30 pcs for a fiver.
2 trays of pork belly for a fiver (can make 3 meals)
big portions
3 pcs of lamb shoulder for a tenner

A bargain!!

Healthy options doesn't mean it is expensive :)
