Hi a couple of months before receiving my completion certificate i recived a credit card from vanquis that i applied for, when i discovered that potentially i could be in breach, i closed the account, since receiving my cc i thought i would reapply, i was declined so i tried another again i was declined, so i googled all credit repair cards and spent a few hours applying for a credit card, well after i don't know how many i lost count maybe a dozen or more i gave up because every single one was declined, many said not to reapply for 6 months. I have now given up the idea of owning one, i don't need one but believed as many suggested it would help in repair of credit.

Regards David.

Too many applications in a short period of time should be avoided.

Hi olydak

It seems that applying for all of this credit has left its mark on your credit record.

If you have applied for a dozen cards Im afraid that potential creditors would see these searches and this would lower your score.

I think your better off leaving it a while before re-applying.

As others have said too many applications within a short space has most probably caused the problem.

I wonder why Vanquis accepted you first tim around and two months later declined you? x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi! Do a soft search on yr credit file! This may give you some indication or apply for your credit report via noddle! You will have a clearer picture of your file then! Although you would have been in breach should you have used the card, could you have not just kept the account but left it unused? Surely you are not in breach if untouched! I may well be wrong though!

Hi Franky, i tried to open a noddle account but was declined as they couldn't verify my identity, there was an issue with the password box on the id identifying page, when i typed in the box there wasn't anything typed, when i tried again the same thing occured.

Regards David.

I do agree that the fact that you have made so many applications will look bad on your credit report.

Try paying for Equifax or Experian (only £2) so you can see what it says on there.

Like you have said, with Vanquist, you cannot apply for another account until 6 months have passed. The more applications you make, your credit score will be affected. I would give it a few months to recover. Capital one also do a credit building card as do Barclays. Barclays also have a pre application check that wont affect your credit score, but will give you a good indication as to whether they could offer you a card

I couldn't believe that yesterday in the post came an invitation from Vanquis to apply for a credit card. I had been pre-selected and would receive a £250 credit limit with no annual fee. I've nearly completed the first year of my IVA - how can this be right?? Needless to say it went straight into the shredder.

Maybe Vanquis have relaxed their credit checks or it might be case of one department not communicating with another and it was sent out in error. Either way do not take them up on the offer if they contact you again - shredder is the best place!

Hi

You will probably find that if you applied you would be rejected.

Olydak, try Vanquis in another 6 months

Good luck

We had one of those yesterday - I didn't even open it, it went straight in the bin.

I get about one a month from either Vanquis or Granite even though I’ve still got just under a year to go on my IVA. Pre-selected means nothing. Pre-approved, however, is a different matter, which takes me back to my pre-IVA days!
