Thanks all for your support. It doesn't help that Barclays are STILL hassling us. They have now called 5 times today, the first one at 8.06am. I'm sick of it now. And my wife has had a letter threatening legal action. I know it's been said over and over again on this forum, but what does it take to get these people to take notice? My IP e-mailed them again on Thursday and faxed a copy of the IVA agreement, but the info is just not filtering through. Next time they ring they are getting both barrels!
And imstruggling, I feel for you, I really do, but do as everyone says and keep posting. It is a great way to get things off your chest and the support you get is second to none.
Carl.
If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of credit card payments!!!
At least you know that the threat of legal action isn't worth as much as the paper it is written on, so no worries on that score.
Have you asked them to check on the register whilst you are on the phone Carl? Several posters on here have and that seems to have worked.
I would also ask to speak to an organ grinder rather than one of the monkeys (with apologies to call centre workers who post on here - it's nothing personal!) You might get somewhere then.
I would certainly look into changing your number.

I just wanted to say I know how you feel, although they cant touch you any more it still feels like and intrustion and a reminder. Debt is the one thing that can bring us to our knees and it just takes time to get used the new situation. It fills us with despair, shame, guilt and goodness knows, its a dark place to be. I still hate the phone ringing and I am now debt free. Someone knocked on the door this morning and I still get that heart jump feeling.
With regards to the calls from Barclays, ask them why they are calling you? Mention the harrassment of creditors act and tell them youre going to record the call and make a complaint. As Kallis says you can get them to check out the insolvency register.
Its easy to get into the mind set that all your happy times are gone and to beat yourself up mentally for getting to this point in the first place, however, its so easy to fall into the debt hole as most of us here are all too aware. You must remind yourself of the fact you are taking positive steps to get back and the negative feelings will soon be positives.
Good luck Carl. You will get there.

Davram-i would definitely take kallis's advice and get them to check the register whilst you are on the phone to them.Barclays were hassling me for 2 months after my iva was approved until i got them to do the above. They never rang again!! And i can sympathise with you about still having 'those feelings' I still get palpitations as soon as i open my eyes in a morning and think 'oh my god i'm thousands of pounds in debt with no way out' Then after a couple of minutes i remember that i'm now in an iva and everything is under control. For me personally I think it will take a while for those feelings to go,basically because the debts ruled my life for so long. And it's true what Melanie said-you do feel guilty for suddenly having nothing to worry about anymore, but i suppose it just takes time to adjust.Take care and good luck with everything[:)]

I think the problem here is that it in an IVA it all seems
TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE SYNDROME!!!!!
The creditors letters are not Forthcoming Anymore and you are getting no more Hassle and if you are paying regularly into the IVA everything goes quiet and you are left wondering if everything is OK.
In your case you have probably had a very good bang of the nail but its not true for everyone, some face other challenges in life and are at different stages in the process.
And a lot of people are still getting letters and phone calls, some for a considerable time after their IVA has been approved.
