Put what you spend. The guidelines are simply guidelines. This is the reason they dont lije them published as people would take the max allowance on everything.

Has you expenditure changed much from last year?

Hi Paul

well we now have extra income,

But we left so many things out of our original expenditure sheet which left us to cut back on so much, and things were tight.

Now we have the extra income we would just like to put our true expenditure down, of course I wouldnt just go the maximum only what we spend..

But if the allowance for food for us was £600 a month and I put down we spend £800 that would be way over.

I just want to know how the average person should be living as I was told I was way under the guidelines on our original expenditure sheet.

We are a family of 6, 2 adults, 4 children.

cheers paul

And after a lot of huffing and puffing from them the nylon shirt at the other end of the phone she said ask yr ip yeah as if there going to give them to me. Oh well just another conspiracy against us the poor people so no surprises there

You could try using the RPI quoted as a guidance but as CPI has not gone down for four months and RPI is rising again (can only see both going up to be honest.) Your expenditure is for the next 12 months therefore no bills are going to decrease at all, put down what you spend at the moment and try and factor in further increases as they will probably happen, i.e. utility bills, petrol etc... I think we all have noticed how things have shot up with regards to your normal shop.

Stepchange (formerly CCCS) are extremely guarded about publishing their guidelines for the reasons already stated above. I once got a big slap from them for putting the figures on one of my websites.

As with earlier advice - but truthful about what you spend. This is what an annual review is all about at the end of the day, and if you overbudget, your IP will guide you accordingly.

I am costantly shocked at the price of food and basic household items every time I go shopping. And it was disappointing to see that there was no increase in the allowances for housekeeping in the 2012 guidelines from the previous year.

Hi getdebtfree, we are with the ccccs now "stepchange" and to be honest when it came down to the budget we were able to put down everything we actually spent our money on. We did not try to be careful with the figures and we did not try to max everything out!!

As i think many times on here we have said for your IVA to work you need to be able to live off a fair budget especially with children.

As for your comments about hard working and your money not going very far, your opening up a big can of worms!! I could not agree any more with you. We are just Taxed far too much in this country. The MP's will come out with all this crap about i put an extra £1.75 in everbodys pockets " IN REAL TERMS" it just gets right up my nose. Taxed too much, too many people taking out of the pot and not putting any thing in,the rich getting richer and the working class just getting b***** slaughtered.

Who can we trust to run the country? Maybe people who have actually worked for a living and live in the real world.

Sorry about the rant, hope you get your budget sorted.
