New Bank Account after IVA Details

I finished my IVA last year in June and have been saving my IVA money in a basic savings account

I went to see them last week and I asked for a Cash Card as I want to use it when I travel next month

I was told that my account didnt have that option and I have not used it much anyway in the past so I asked can I transfer all my money in this account to a new account with a Cash Card

I went to do this with their advisor and he did the usual sweet talking and how wonderful we are at this bank He then did the phone check and told me you have failed a credit check I said I Was in an IVA but its finished 6 months ago

I said all I want is to put money in and use the card Not borrow or credit so he says they cant do that I was then ushered out sharpish and see you later

So my Question is which Bank can I go to with my pot of cash that will let me get an account that I can have a ATM Cash Card

I went to my regular bank and they said I can make a '' Side Account '' I said I want it totally seperate with its own Card as I want my regualr account left as it is now and also I want to be able to take the ATM card for that account As I am travelling I want 2 cards so if I lose a card or it gets corrupted I am not stuck
I used a PAYG card when I was in my IVA but when I used that abroad I tapped in the pin number and then it rejected me and blocked the card So I dont want to be in that situation again

I am just using this second account as my back up money I am not interesteed in a high interest account for it just the ability to use it for travelling and when I get back then to carry on putting what used to be IVA payments in

Thanks I would prefer a walk in bank rather than an online one I am going to look at some now

also as I finished with the IVA I find it highly unfair that I am now 6 months having to deal with this as I am stuck in the register also so its making me look bad when I am not

Hi

Have you tried the Co-op cashminder account ? Most banks should offer a basic account, you need to ensure that it is the basic account that you are actually applying for

Good luck

If it's a basic bank account you should be ok. I applied and got accepted for a Santander123 accounnt when in an IVA. Never used it, did it on a whim...boredom I think! silly in hindsight but nevertheless accepted. x

Yorkshire BS don't credit check as it is effectively an easy access savings account (I opened my account with them while in the IVA with no problems -- I just have the e-saver with ATM card)

I think Co-Op only do an ID check. Again many have opened their Cashminder account whilst in the IVA.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

co-op issue a basic debit/atm card. You have to fill a form out in the branch which then gets posted away ( technology seems to have bypassed the co-op ! ). Forum members have been accepted whilst in an IVA, so i imagine, post IVA you wouldnt have any problems.

Have you dropped off the insolvency register yet ?

If its for savings then I echo the thoughts that the yorkshire bs account is good. I have been using it for 2 years and its great, online management and cashcard and local branch even though I live in a small town in scotland!!
